Have you watched “Idol”? In Germany it’s called: “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” - Germany is looking for the Superstar.
Schwamendingen is a part of Zurich, where I grew up and where I sing in a choir. Now, the new president of the Männerchor Schwamendingen (the male equivalent of our choir but they are separate to us, we just do stuff together) had the idea to look for a superstar amongst the people in Schwamendingen.
The first casting was a flop because only 3 people showed up.
We got a camera from Tele Schwamendingen and that’s what they created out of the material Brigitte filmed.
Darn, Tele Schwamendingen took it off, too bad I did not download it. Maybe because it was kind of like an invitation to the 19th. Oh, well.
Anyway. Two of three contestants (the 4th - moi - opted out because she already sings with the choir and basically is not good enough anyways LOL) got a “recall” sheet. One of them sang with her cell phone and it was bad enough for her not to get a recall sheet.
So, we had to do another open casting on September 19th where more people showed up. Plus of course the two recalls. Unfortunately, one of them did not show or better showed up later but didn’t not show for the second part. And the other was just not prepared enough. Too bad. I would have liked for both them to make it to the finals.
This is how it worked: First they each had to sing a song acapella. And practically all of them knocked our socks off. One’s voice was so amazing she got a sheet for the finals without her having to do the second part. Which I don’t agree with, but I was only there to take some photos. At one point I had the idea to use the film feature of my camera. The result you can see below.
After the first round, we had a cool drink and a meal and got ready for the second part. In the second part, the contestants were allowed to use an instrument or a CD. As I mentioned above, one of the “recalls” didn’t show because she could not find an instrumental version of her song. Some people give up too fast I think.
