I got this shoe in the hospital, and after staying there for 8 days, they let me go home.
First though I had to fit into it which took longer than anticipated and then i had to learn to walk on crutches with that shoe on, only putting a little bit weight on it.
For the next 6 weeks I had to constantly wear it. Day and Night. I only took it off - carefully - when we washed the foot or when it itched too badly.
After a while it started to smell like Salami even though we did wash my foot once sometimes twice a day with soap even! And even washed the soft cloth, the inside of the shoe. Good thing we got an extra one.
I was not supposed to stand on my foot, or only put a little weight on it when walking so I needed crutches and didn’t leave the house for weeks. You must know, I live on the 5th floor - without elevator.

It was a sunny Sunday, the snow and ice was melted away and I had practiced the staires so I felt confident enough to conquer the whole 5 floors. Slowly I descended and was so glad and happy and thrilled when I finally made it, breathed fresh air and felt the warm sun on my skin. Simply amazing. I only got to the market square, normal walk of 2 minutes or less. Then I was totally exhausted and needed to sit down.
After a rest, enjoying the sun tremendously we walked on to the nearest Restaurant where we had something to drink and I got to rest again. I was a bit scared about the fact that going down was probably less strenous than claiming those stairs up. But after a drink (iced tea) and a longer rest, we walked home again and started the challenge of walking up those stairs.
Of course I made it but you can imagine, that I was totally spent, collapsed on the bed and fell asleep. A few hours later I woke up again - hungry
More about this adventure later. Have a sweet day!
